You are 100% on point. This is one of the many reasons, I side eye the far left. They are hung up on their purity beliefs and thing they know what's best for Black voters.

It’s been a few years now since the far left has gained prominence and they refuse to learn any lessons. They’ve lost elections in blue cities and instead of asking “where did we go wrong? Did we run the wrong candidate?” they stay in their internet bubble and treat voters like they’re too dumb to know their own minds. Who’d want that kind of representation?

Well written, and so true. The continuous dismissal or mocking of Black voters' lived experiences by white leftists is shameful.

100% all of this.

I wish more people, especially Black ones, talked about the ongoing racism and infantilization of the majority white left toward Black people writ large. Nearly half of all Black people are working class, and only a minority are even progressive (though they seem to be all over the internet so it inflates their numbers/influence).

A lot of white and non Black leftists will levy racism toward any Black person who has beliefs or ideas that they dont like. It's absolutely mind boggling.

White leftists have positioned themselves as the alpha and omega; the only people who know what is best for everyone. These people, they dont know anything! They just want everyone to bend the knee or risk being terrorized.

This is exactly it. There's a reason and folks would do well to understand it.

Clyburn endorsing Cuomo isn’t some betrayal. It’s a reminder that lived experience and political survival don’t always align with Twitter narratives. Too many progressives talk about community but don’t actually listen to it,especially when that community doesn’t vote the way they want. If solidarity means anything, it has to include respect for decisions made outside the echo chamber.

since when does one 84 year old politician speak for the entire black community? Seems a little racist to assume they are all a monolith who follows orders from a single South Carolina politician. Also completely ignores the generational divide shown in polling but I guess that doesn’t fit your narrative either

Probably should be more focused on turning out the elderly voters you’ll need to win on Tuesday, seems like they aren’t voting at numbers high enough for Cuomo to win. Say what you want about NYC progressives, but they seem to be voting 🤷🏻‍♀️

"They" are my community. And no one said we are a monolith, the polling clearly shows over half of black people in the city are supporting Cuomo. Which means a majority, if that was unclear. But of course, leave it to a white person to lecture a black person on my own community and our needs and leaders. The irony of your comment is I was writing about people exactly like you and you just verified the claims I made. Btw I said leftists, not progressives. You guys aren't progressives your socialists, leftists or extremists doesn't make a difference to me!

Probably should be more focused on turning out your voters, looks like they aren’t turning out. Why do you think Cuomo has failed to motivate them to vote? Last time I checked, 50% isn’t enough to draw vast conclusions about an entire demographic, what about the other half that isn’t supportive of Cuomo? Do they just not matter to you at all?

Why are you erasing minority voters under 45?

This type of cynical behavior doesn’t work in 2025, and it hardly worked 10 years ago. It might appeal to the overly online Khive accounts that are in these comments, but it’s failed to appeal to a broader coalition of voters 🤷🏻‍♀️

In your own article, I read it, why do minority voters under 35 not matter? Why do you only care about the voting intentions of elderly minority voters? And again; why are they failing to show up to the polls when younger voters are coming out this cycle? Why has Cuomo failed to motivate older black voters to show up?

I agree the dynamics of this race are interesting, but why are you ignoring half of the entire electorate?

You think this works in 2025? Does this win anyone over to your side? Does this motivate Cuomo voters to the polls? What’s your plan to get them to vote?

You mention Clyburn’s track record of pragmatism in his endorsements and make reference to Joe Biden. Was Clyburn’s endorsement of Biden ultimately a positive or negative thing for the Democratic Party?

I think it’s easy to declare something or someone to be pragmatic without actually engaging with it in any meaningful way.

I’m no fan of the DSA, but Cuomo is a sexual predator who bungled the pandemic & lied about it. Dem party leadership should have done anything & everything to keep his creepy old ass from running.

The thing to do now is try to bring Momdani into the fold & teach him the realities of governing. And while we’re at it, maybe LEARN some things from him about campaigning!
